The Brazilian Butt Lift is a procedure utilized in women who want to improve the shape and contour of their buttocks. Individuals can also improve their overall look by removing fat from specific areas, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, back, arms, chest, and neck.* The Brazilian Butt Lift is considered a much safer procedure than fat injections because the chances of your body rejecting the fat are much lower when it comes from the same body.*

The best candidates for Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery
Ideal candidates for this procedure are those who are physically healthy, at a normal weight, have skin with adequate firmness and elasticity, and have realistic goals for their end appearance.
All surgery carries some uncertainty and risk
Suction-assisted lipectomy will be used to transfer fat and is normally safe as long as patients are carefully selected, the operating facility is properly equipped, and the physician is adequately trained in body contouring as well as general surgery.
Nevertheless, in rare instances, the procedure may cause severe trauma, particularly when multiple or very extensive areas are suctioned at one time. Other infrequent but possible, complications include fluid accumulation (which must be drained) and injury to the skin. Although serious complications are infrequent, infection or excessive fluid loss can lead to severe illness. You can reduce your risks by choosing a qualified New Body MD plastic surgeon who has been granted privileges to perform liposuction at an accredited hospital and by closely following his or her advice.
The scars from liposuction are small and strategically placed to be hidden from view, even in a bikini. However, other cosmetic problems may occur, even if your surgeon is very skilled. They may include rippling or bagginess of the skin over the treated area, and pigmentation changes (such as brown spots) that may become permanent if exposed to the sun. Asymmetry (uneven contour or shape) may sometimes require a second procedure.
Planning your Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery
In your initial consultation, the surgeon will evaluate your health, determine where your fat deposits lie, and carefully assess your skin tone. Your doctor should explain any alternative body-contouring methods that may be appropriate, such as abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, and discuss the options or the combination of procedures that would be best for you.
Be frank in discussing your expectations with your surgeon. He or she should be equally frank with you, describing the procedure in detail and explaining its risks and limitations. Your surgeon should also explain the anesthesia he or she will use, the type of facility where the surgery will be performed, and the costs involved.
During this consultation, be sure to tell your surgeon about any large weight losses or gains you’ve had at any time. You should also inform your surgeon if you smoke, and if you’re taking any medications, vitamins, or other drugs.
Don’t hesitate to ask your doctor any questions you may have, especially those regarding your expectations and concerns about the results.
How will the procedure be performed?
This procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis at the New Body MD Surgical Center using local anesthesia. The Brazilian Buttocks Augmentation procedure may take approximately 90 minutes to four hours, based on multiple factors, including the amount of fat removed, how many areas to be treated, and the patient’s desired size/shape of the buttocks. Tumescent Liposculpturing and autologous (your own) fat transfer to the buttocks are the most common technique performed.*

After your procedure
Post-operation, it is expected for there to be some bruising, swelling, and pain in the areas operated upon. A loss of sensation in those areas is also normal; however, thereafter, your nerves will begin to restore feeling and sensation shortly. Swelling may last over a period of several months. Although pain medication is prescribed to control any discomfort, be sure to contact us immediately if you begin to have severe pain.
Although every patient experiences the recovery period differently after gluteal augmentation, you should be up and walking around within a day after your surgery. There will be excess tumescent fluid draining from the access points for the first couple of days and there may be some blood tinged fluid. As the buttocks revascularizes the newly implanted fatty tissue, it is important that you avoid sitting on your bottom as much as possible for the first two weeks. In order to take direct pressure off the buttocks, you should sleep on your abdomen or sides, and when you are sitting down, your weight should be more situated on your thighs than the buttocks. You may resume showering on the second or third day following surgery, while normal activities may not be resumed for at least the first week after your procedure (based on the number of areas treated). The treated areas may remain very sensitive and strenuous physical activities should be limited during the two or three weeks following your procedure.
A special compression garment will need to be worn for up to a month; this will help to ensure that the treated areas will heal properly with the new contour. After your healing period, you can gradually return to regular activities, including lifting, exercise, and sex. High impact activities should be avoided for about one month, particularly jogging and activites that can put stress on the gluteal area. Following these guidelines can help you avoid stress to the areas treated and allow proper healing with minimal scarring.
Your new look after Brazilian butt lift surgery
Typically, final results of your liposculpturing and buttocks enhancement are seen after several weeks.* So long as you maintain a healthy diet and exercise routing, the treated areas should look great and retain their sculptured appearance. Any weight gain will be evident in areas that were not liposuctioned.*
